Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 March 2026

Your privacy is critically important to us. At Wi-Fi-Go ("we", "us", "our"), we have a few fundamental principles:

Summary

Wi-Fi-Go is a local-first application. Almost everything happens on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. The only exception is the AI Advisor feature — which, when enabled and configured with your own API key, sends network diagnostic data to the AI provider you choose (e.g. Google Gemini). This is described in full below.

Data Collection and Usage

Local Processing

All diagnostic tests — speed tests, ping tests, signal strength readings, traceroutes, port scans, and LAN device discovery — run entirely on your device. Results are stored locally and are never transmitted to our servers.

WiFi Heatmapping

Floor plans, signal measurements, and heatmap data are stored locally on your device. This data is never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud service. Exports (PDF, PNG, SVG) are generated on-device and shared only at your explicit direction.

Location Services

To perform WiFi scans and identify network names (SSID), iOS/iPadOS requires Location Services permission. Wi-Fi-Go uses this permission solely to access network information required for its core functionality. We do not track, store, or transmit your precise location data to our servers or third parties.

Local Network Permission

Wi-Fi-Go requests permission to access devices on your local network. This is used exclusively for the Device Discovery feature to list devices connected to your WiFi. This information is processed locally and is never uploaded.

Camera and Photo Library

Camera access (for floor plan capture) and photo library access (for importing site photos) are used solely within the app for features you initiate. Photos are stored locally and are never uploaded by Wi-Fi-Go.

Analytics

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to help us improve the app (e.g. crash reports, feature usage counts). This data does not identify you personally.

AI Advisor — Third-Party Data Sharing

The AI Advisor is off by default. It only activates when you enter your own API key in Settings → AI Advisor. No data is sent to any AI provider unless you have configured this feature.

Wi-Fi-Go includes an optional AI Advisor feature that provides expert network troubleshooting advice. When you use it, your most recent network diagnostic data and your typed question are sent to the AI provider you have selected.

What data is sent

Each AI Advisor request includes the following data from your most recent diagnostic scan:

Data PointExample
Download speed45.3 Mbps
Upload speed12.1 Mbps
Ping / latency18 ms
Jitter3 ms
Network name (SSID)MyHomeNetwork
Signal strength (RSSI)-62 dBm
WiFi frequency band5 GHz
WiFi channel36
DNS server address8.8.8.8
DNS resolution time22 ms
VPN active statusNo
Connection typeWiFi
Technical analysis notes(generated by diagnostics)
Your typed question"Why is my download so slow?"

Your API key is stored only on your device (in iOS secure local storage). It is sent with each request to authenticate with the provider. Wi-Fi-Go does not have access to your API key on our servers. No personal identity information (name, email, Apple ID, device identifier) is included in requests to AI providers.

Google Gemini (default provider)

Data destination: Google LLC, USA (generativelanguage.googleapis.com). Data is sent to Google's servers.

By using the Gemini provider, you are sharing the data listed above with Google under their terms of service. Wi-Fi-Go does not control how Google processes, stores, or uses data submitted via the Gemini API.

Apple Intelligence (on-device)

Fully on-device. No data is sent externally. No API key required.

The Apple Intelligence provider shares nothing with external services. Note: the full Apple Foundation Models integration is in development and will be completed in a future update.

OpenAI

Data destination: OpenAI, LLC, USA (api.openai.com). Data is sent to OpenAI's servers.

By using the OpenAI provider, you are sharing the data listed above with OpenAI under their terms of service. Wi-Fi-Go does not control how OpenAI processes, stores, or uses data submitted via the OpenAI API.

How to disable AI data sharing

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Wi-Fi-Go does not collect or store your payment information. Purchase receipts and entitlement data are managed by Apple's StoreKit framework on your device.

Children's Privacy

Wi-Fi-Go is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data Retention

Wi-Fi-Go stores all app data locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. We do not maintain copies of your data on our servers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes within the app and by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
